The function generator produces test signals that can be sent to an audio output, stored, repeated in a hardware loop or used directly by other VA instruments. It is designed to work as part of an integrated measurement chain rather than as an isolated tone source.

Waveforms and synthesis
VA generates sine, square, triangular and pulse waveforms, white and pink noise, several statistical noise distributions and frequency sweeps. Custom waveforms can be defined through Fourier coefficients or graphical construction.
Continuous and loop operation
A waveform may be synthesized continuously in real time or prepared as a repeating buffer. Loop mode reduces timing discontinuities and is especially useful for stable periodic tests, provided that the buffer contains a coherent number of periods.
Integrated measurements
The generator can operate together with the oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, frequency-response tool, distortion analyser and ZRLC section. Shared sample-rate and buffer settings ensure that generated and acquired data remain mutually consistent.
